Tenor Tales

Terrible Tales of the Tenor – 30 years on the opera stage

About

I have appeared in leading tenor roles throughout Europe and the United States. I have been critically acclaimed for my portrayal of the title role in Verdi’s tragic opera Otello, as well as my interpretation of both Turiddu in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana and Canio in Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci on the same evening. My career has led me from Michigan, where I sang the first-ever opera performance at Whiting Auditorium in my hometown of Flint, to Wiesbaden, Germany, where I sang the first performances in the newly renovated, Baroque style, Wiesbaden State Theater. I was considered by most European critics to have been the leading tenor in Germany in the 1970s and 1980s.
In the United States, I sang the American premiere of George Dreyfus’ Garni Sands in New York, and Tito Campobianco brought me to San Diego for the great San Diego Verdi Festival.
I now live on the Treasure Coast of Florida, where I most recently was Music Critic and Editor of the Fort Pierce News. Prior to moving to the Treasure Coast, I was an award-winning critic, editor and page designer for the EastSider, an Arts and Entertainment weekly in Fort Lauderdale and Miami. My reviews and articles were circulated weekly to more than 1 million readers from Miami to Port St. Lucie
I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to mildly rejuvenate my singing career with a critically acclaimed performance of Benoit for the Gold Coast Opera production of La Boheme, as well as the South Florida Opera’s production of the same opera. I perform and direct with local theater groups, and give an occasional concert.

You are absolutely right, Alma Jean. I have not revealed myself anywhere on these pages. I haven’t actually kept up on the blog, but I’ve been distracted by other things.
    I’m. . . (drum roll). . .
